Hyundai Doosan Infracore, Hyundai Heavy Industries Group's construction equipment subsidiary, has announced the global launch of the DX12 model, an eco-friendly electronic marine engine with significantly improved power and fuel efficiency compared to previous models.

The new DX12 model with a displacement of 11.1 liters and a maximum output of 550 horsepower is mainly installed in small and medium-sized vessels like fishing boats. Equipped with a common rail system that supplies and injects fuel at high pressure, the product's power and fuel efficiency have been improved by 10% and 5%, respectively, compared to existing mechanical engines.

In consideration of the narrow engine room of small and medium-sized vessels, the engine size was designed to be more compact than competitor products, improving space efficiency.

Notably, the new marine engine incorporates high-efficiency SCR* (Selective Reduction Catalyst) technology that blocks harmful emissions to meet the International Maritime Organization (IMO)'s Prevention of Air Pollution from Ships (Tier 3). It can also use hydrotreated vegetable oils (HVO) or eco-friendly fuel produced using gas to liquid (GTL) technology. As regulations on maritime emissions are becoming stricter, mainly in advanced countries, such as Europe and North America, the market is expected to expand further to meet the growing demand for eco-friendly electronic marine engines.

“The DX12 electronic marine engine is unparalleled in terms of fuel efficiency, durability, and post-processing technology," said Lim Hyeog-taek, managing director, Engine BG, Doosan Infracore. "With the new electronic engine, Hyundai Doosan Infracore will introduce its advanced eco-friendly technology not only to Korea but also to advanced overseas markets such as Europe and North America."

Doosan Infracore plans to continue expanding its lineup of eco-friendly, high-efficiency advanced electronic engines in the marine engine market by introducing the DL06 model (6 liters) and DL08 model (8 liters) in the second half of this year.

Meanwhile, Hyundai Doosan Infracore has recently installed the DX12 model on the first customer's ship and delivered a small souvenir to express its gratitude. <End>
